Google announced Monday the fruits of its earlier deal with Twitter, showing off how it has decided to present real-time Internet content within search results. Amit Singhal, Google fellow, introduced the real-time section during an event at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif. “We are here today to announce Google real-time search,” Singhal said, calling it “Google relevance technology meets the real-time Web.”

Twitter had quite a time this year. With the year ending and when they opened their books – in Al Pacino’s words from Donnie Brasco, guess who came on top. Twitter. Twitter is the top word in English language for 2009. According to the Global Language Monitor, which examines language usage across the world, “Twitter” beat out “Obama,” “H1N1,” “stimulus,” and “vampire” to take the crown. Interestingly, “2.0″ came in at sixth place.

We had learnt about a new addition to Microsoft Xbox ecosystem – An integration of Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm on Xbox’s gaming platform. It looks to me like a desperate attempt by Microsoft to expand its boundaries beyond the gaming world.
